Roles: Administrator or Educator
How to create or access it
- Open Reports.
- Create a new report that's based on a button Form you'd like to report on
- In the report page, set your filters (Date Range, Form Buttons/Tags, Videos, and Users).
- In the report table tabs, click Competency Matrix.
What it does
The Competency Matrix shows scoring trends by Teacher and Observer across selected form buttons:
- Each row is a unique Teacher + Observer pair.
- Each button column shows that pair’s average score for moments coded with that button.
- A Cohort Average row summarizes each button column across all visible rows.
- If no data matches the current filters, the table shows: “No report moments found for the selected filters.”
How data is included
Only moments that pass all active filters are used:
- Date range filter (or All Time)
- Selected videos
- Selected users (coders/observers)
- Selected form buttons
- Selected tags for each button
Tag behavior:
- If no tags are selected for a button, that button effectively includes all its tags.
- If a moment has no valid scored tags for a button, that cell shows a hyphen "-".
How scores and averages are calculated
- For each selected button, the report takes its selected tags and tag scores.
- Tag scores are normalized per button by subtracting the button’s minimum selected score (when minimum >= 0).
- For each moment, the moment score is the highest scored tag found on that moment.
- For each Teacher+Observer row and button column, the cell value is the average of those moment scores (shown to 2 decimals).
- Cohort Average for a button is the simple average of visible row values for that button (rows with hyphens "-" are ignored).
Important: Cohort Average is row-based (each Teacher+Observer row weighted equally), not weighted by number of moments.
