If live streaming works only when your firewall is turned off, a firewall rule may be blocking the connections needed to transmit video.

Keep your firewall enabled. Use the guidance below to configure an exception with your IT team.

Allow Your Browser Through the Firewall

Vosaic uses browser-based WebRTC technology for live streaming. Unlike ordinary web browsing, WebRTC may use dynamically assigned ports to establish video connections.

For Windows Defender Firewall:

  1. Open Windows Security.
  2. Select Firewall & network protection.
  3. Select Allow an app through firewall, then Change settings.
  4. Locate the browser you use for Vosaic, or select Allow another app to add it.
  5. Enable access for the network profile used by your computer, as approved by your IT team.
  6. Restart the browser and try streaming again.

On an organization-managed computer, your IT team may need to configure this exception. Enable access only for the network profiles you need.

Network Requirements for IT Teams

Vosaic uses Amazon Kinesis Video Streams with WebRTC. Allow the following outbound connections and their return traffic:

Protocol / Destination PortPurpose
TCP 443HTTPS API requests, secure WebSocket signaling, and TURN video relay
UDP 443STUN connection discovery and TURN video relay

For destination-restricted networks, allow the AWS service endpoints under:

*.kinesisvideo.us-east-1.amazonaws.com

      This includes the STUN endpoint:

      stun.kinesisvideo.us-east-1.amazonaws.com

TURN relay hostnames are assigned dynamically within the AWS service domain. Avoid restricting access to a single resolved IP address.

Allowing HTTPS alone is not sufficient: UDP traffic and non-HTTP relay connections on port 443 may also be needed.

Direct WebRTC connections can use dynamically assigned ports between participants. A browser-specific application rule is generally preferable to opening a broad port range for all applications. Where direct connections are blocked, Vosaic is configured to attempt AWS TURN relay connections.

If Streaming Still Does Not Work

          • Confirm the exception applies to the computer’s active network profile.
          • Ask IT to check for explicit blocking rules or centrally managed policies.
          • If permitted by your organization, test without a VPN or on another trusted network.
          • Check whether a network firewall, proxy, or endpoint security product also restricts WebRTC traffic.

Contact Vosaic Support with your browser version, Windows version, any error messages, and whether the issue affects broadcasting, viewing, or both. Include the results of any alternate-network tests.
