At the recent 2025 TPCS conference in Houston, Texas, the significant interest in integrating AI strategies into educational practices was clearly evident. Our team presented on "Harnessing the Power of AI and Video to Improve Teacher Coaching," and also attended two other insightful presentations.

The following summaries highlight key takeaways from these sessions, reflecting the educational community's growing commitment to exploring and implementing AI for enhanced teaching and learning.

AI Coach: Curriculum Alignment & Teacher Impact presentation

In this insightful presentation, Yen Nguyen from Harmony Public Schools in Texas explored the transformative role of AI tools in educational environments, emphasizing their potential to enhance data-driven decision-making and facilitate personalized learning experiences. Nguyen outlined how AI can assist educators in analyzing assessment data, enabling them to identify student needs and develop tailored intervention plans effectively.

The missing puzzle: AI

Key discussions included the critical importance of training both educators and students to harness AI technologies responsibly and effectively. The presentation also addressed vital considerations such as maintaining data privacy and security, ensuring that sensitive information is protected while utilizing AI insights. Furthermore, Nguyen highlighted the essential role of educators as content experts, advocating for their involvement in the AI implementation process to ensure that technology complements pedagogical goals.

Engaging parents in the educational journey was another focal point, with strategies suggested for fostering collaboration between schools and families. Overall, Nguyen provided practical insights and actionable strategies for leveraging AI to streamline educational processes, ultimately aiming to create a more impactful and responsive learning environment for all students.

Responsible AI for Lesson Design and Communication

The presentation, led by James Molvey, an ELAR Curriculum Coordinator, and Jose Gallardo, Assistant Superintendent at Golden Rule Charter School, focused on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in educational settings. They emphasized AI's potential to enhance teaching and learning experiences while underscoring the importance of understanding it as a tool that can facilitate educational processes rather than replace traditional methods.

A smarter, not harder, approach

Molvey and Gallardo discussed the necessity of creating safeguards and ethical considerations when implementing AI technologies in schools, stressing the need for responsible usage and adherence to privacy policies. They encouraged participants to think critically about how AI can be utilized in lesson planning, student assessments, and communication with parents.

The presenters shared practical strategies for leveraging AI to improve educational outcomes, including the use of specific prompts and resources to guide effective interactions with AI tools. Overall, the session aimed to empower educators to embrace AI while maintaining a human-centered approach to teaching.

As the educational landscape continues to evolve, the insights shared by Molvey and Gallardo serve as a valuable resource for educators looking to navigate the complexities of AI integration in their classrooms.

Harnessing the Power of AI and Video to Improve Teacher Coaching

In our presentation, we focused on addressing the challenges faced by educators during the observation, coaching and feedback process. We initiated the discussion by prompting attendees to reflect on their own experiences with feedback, highlighting common feelings, and emphasizing that traditional observation methods often fail to provide meaningful improvement due to their time-consuming nature and infrequent feedback.

A significant concept we introduced was the "coaching gap," which occurs when teachers do not receive timely feedback necessary for their professional growth.

Issues that widen the coaching gap

We referenced research indicating that high-quality, timely feedback is one of the most effective professional development strategies for improving student achievement. To bridge this gap, we proposed leveraging AI and video technology to automate time-consuming tasks, provide immediate feedback, and scale coaching efforts in a budget friendly way.

During the presentation, we showcased Vosaic, a cloud-based platform that allows educators to record lessons, tag specific moments, and receive AI-generated feedback on classroom management and student engagement. We illustrated how Vosaic enables teachers to self-reflect on their practices without the pressure of live performance, thus fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The integration of AI enhances the feedback process by providing immediate insights, allowing coaches to focus on meaningful conversations rather than evaluations.

Moreover, we discussed the importance of building trust between teachers and coaches, emphasizing that AI should serve as an assistant rather than a replacement for human coaching. We concluded with practical advice on how to implement Vosaic in educational settings, suggesting that schools start small, perhaps with new or volunteer teachers, and gradually integrate AI into existing coaching frameworks.

In summary, our presentation highlighted the transformative potential of combining AI and video technology in the observation process, ultimately aiming to enhance teacher growth and student outcomes. Educators are encouraged to explore Vosaic's capabilities and see firsthand how it can support their professional development.
