Flip4Mac Player Pro for .wmv files
To use .wmv files in Studiocode, we recommend installing Flip4Mac Player Pro ($29). Flip4Mac allows Mac applications such as QuickTime and Studiocode to play .wmv files, which are inherently designed to play on Windows OS machines. However, you won't actually "launch" Flip4Mac like other applications. It just provides movie playing applications the capabilities of playing .wmv files.
After installing Flip4Mac (directions here), follow the instructions below to ensure that the necessary applications can utilize the Flip4Mac functionality.
- Go to System Preferences > Flip4Mac WMV > Player panel.
- Click on the advanced button.
- Click on the + button and add SportsCode to the list. We recommend adding QuickTime and Elgato Turbo.264 HD to the list also.
- Relaunch the applications and open a .wmv file. The import progress bar should appear when movies are opened.
*Please note that Flip4Mac only allows the aforementioned applications to play movies. However, in most cases, for use in Studiocode, the .wmv files should be converted to .mov (or similar) format with the appropriate movie attributes by using a tool such as the Elgato Turbo 264 HD. In other words, if you are using .wmv files, it is likely that you will also need to purchase, install, and use Elgato Turbo 264 HD (or similar) as well as Flip4Mac.
