Internet Sharing to Activate iCoda
At many institutions, activating iCoda on the iPads via a wifi network is not possible due to firewalls. This is easily remedied by connecting the Mac to an internet enabled ethernet port first, then following the steps below to share the internet through the airport on the Mac.
You can share your Internet connection with other users on your local network.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences > Sharing
Check the Internet Sharing checkbox.
Click the ?Share your connection from? pop-up menu, then choose the Internet connection you want to share. For example, if you?re connected to the Internet over Ethernet, choose Ethernet.
Select how you want to share your Internet connection in the ?To computers using? list. For example, if you want to share your Internet connection over Wi-Fi, select Wi-Fi. **Note: sometimes you have to do steps 3 and 4 a few times for the changes to stick. If done correctly, the airport icon on the menu bar at the top of the screen will look like the picture below.
After sharing the internet from the Mac, connect the iPads to the same wifi network that is now being shared.
- Launch iCoda on the iPads and they should now appear in the Coda Command Centre on the Mac and be able to be Activated. (Activation instructions here)
