What to Know About Stacking Movies
When stacking multiple angles of video in Studiocode, there are a number of different variables to consider when thinking about minimum requirements to support stacked movies:
? the number of movie angles stacked
? the specific resolutions of those angles
? the resolution of the particular Mac screen you might be using
? the CPU specs of the Mac
? the GPU specs of the Mac
? the amount of RAM in the Mac
? the number of movie packages one might stack in Studiocode
? the location of the stacked movie packages
Due to the large number of potential configurations, it's difficult to give minimum requirements for every possible configuration of stacked movies. Thus, the minimum hardware requirements for stacked movies has been documented with the thought in mind that one will be using movies with the highest recommended movie resolution (1280 x 720) at the time of writing this article.
In some cases, these minimum hardware requirements may be overkill. For example: if you have standard definition movies, you may be able to use a Mac with a slower set of processors and less RAM.
The best way to know if your particular Mac will support your specific combination of variables listed above, is to actually stack the movies on your Mac and see how it performs. If you are sharing Studiocode stacked movie packages with colleagues, be sure to test on the Mac with the lowest set of hardware specs.
